I’m just a software developer who wants to express political opinions. Born and raised in Canada, I’ve started getting more politically active in 2015. It started with just getting more attentive to politics in general, through the lens of U.S. media. Over the last 10 years, I feel like our political landscape is shifting and not necessarily for the better. I wanted to do more. So the creation of Poliment was created.
Etymology
From poli (“polished, polite”) + -ment (“-ly”).
But cleverly also means “Political Commentary”.
My Bias
To be as clear as possible, I am not a journalist. I do not make reports on news. I leave that to the reporters. Instead, I’ll comment on news cycles from a left-wing perspective. With that being said, I do have every intention of being as unbiased as possible.
My Qualifications
I do not have any journalistic qualifications. That’s why I am not a journalist. But I can commentate on political news stories, just like any other Canadian and I will be using this site, as well as social media to do so. If you are interested in my commentary, great! If not, well that’s okay too.
